On the weekend of September 21st/22nd, 2024, Historic Equitation hosted an exciting mounted fencing clinic at its Northampton home base. The clinic was led by Mike Canfor, whose extensive expertise in mounted martial arts provided participants with invaluable insights into medieval combat techniques inspired by the works of historical masters like Talhoffer and Lichtenauer.
Riders, ranging from beginners to advanced equestrians, worked on refining their mounted fencing skills, blending historical theory with hands-on training. These clinics have continued to grow in popularity, especially post-pandemic, as the interest in reviving historical martial arts thrives. The event was a fantastic opportunity to build skills, confidence, and camaraderie among like-minded enthusiasts.
